About Me

Jessica Vining CD(DONA)

I witnessed my first labor and delivery before the age of ten (the birth of my sister, Jewel) and was instantly amazed by the entire process of creating humans. The moment when suddenly one body becomes two totally unique and separate persons is both incomprehensible and amazing.

Though I did not know it for some time, this first experience with birth greatly impacted me. I knew that somehow I  wanted to be a part of the process of life. I wanted to live constantly seeing miracles (and if nothing else, babies are certainly miracles) brought forth into the world.  I wanted mothers to know their full potential to care for and birth such wonder and innocence into the world.

All of this to say that, through a variety of experiences and events, the path I am on in life is now dedicated to helping women achieve and experience the amazement I felt at that first birth I attended.

I am now a certified birth doula through DONA International, and am currently enrolled in a montrice (midwife’s assistant) training program through the Oklahoma Midwives Alliance (OMA). I am also a current member of both DONA International and the Doula Association of Central Oklahoma. I love cooking vegetarian meals, shopping at thrift stores and learning about the Middle East. Ultimately, I want to be remembered as someone who understood the power encompassed within the bodies and spirits of women and helped them to realize this power.
